Max Wolpe

Max Wolpe is a visual artist living and working in Cape Town.

Wolpe produced a series of oil-based monotypes in collaboration with Warren Editions in 2014. A selection of these works were included in the group show BANANAS, ZIGZAGS & SKULLS – OH AND MAX at Warren Editions Projects, in December 2014. These monotypes are consistant with his trademark stylistic tendencies, playful themes and lively compositions.

Wolpe graduated in 1978, from the Ruth Prowse School of Art, with a Diploma in Fine Art. He has since exhibited his artwork in six solo shows and numerous group shows at galleries throughout South Africa including the AVA Gallery and Goodman Gallery in Johannesburg. In 1994 Wolpe was the Winner of First Prize ABSA “Cricket at Newlands” competition in Cape Town. He was also selected as a finalist in the Brett Kebble Art Awards in 2004 and again in 2005. His work features in national and international private and public collections, these include Dr Stuart Saunders, Wooltru, SA National Gallery, Pietersburg Municipal Museum, Abbey Holdings Ltd, SA Development Bank and SANLAM.
