South African artist Christo Basson is known for his finely crafted drawings and paintings that explore contemporary culture. His artworks span both figuration and abstraction, employing a rich colour palette and a wide range of media, and often incorporating mixed-media elements.
Basson works with pencil, charcoal, paint, and printmaking, drawing on his strong illustration background to develop a personal visual language. Alongside his studio practice, he is the co-founder and creative director of the Cape Town–based animation production companies Bewilder and Rave Growl.
He studied Visual Communication at the University of Stellenbosch and has participated in many group and solo exhibitions. Basson has worked extensively in international animation and illustration.
