From the pithy satire of artist Brett Murray to the whimsy of illustrator collective The Blackheart Gang, the show focuses on a commonality of medium. That being, the seductive and rather specialist printmaking technique of Photo-Polymer.
In Photo-polymer, the image is exposed to a film-laminated metal plate and then printed by hand as a limited edition. As one of the most exciting developments in printmaking today, the technique is practiced round the world by a pioneering community of printers and studios. Over the years, Warren Editions has enabled a number of artists to explore this rewarding medium, and it is with satisfaction that the studio presents a dynamic selection of Photo-Polymer prints.
The exhibition feature works by The Blackheart Gang, Sanell Aggenbach, Jean de Wet, David Greg Harth, James Macdonald, Brett Murray, Heleen Schröder, Lionel Smit, Ina van Zyl and Zhané Warren – as well as ‘Patmos and the War at Sea’, an artist’s book by Alastair Whitton.
