Sipho Mpongo | 2015

Edition S 2015 was represented by Sipho Mpongo's work 'The Seed'. The etching was produced in copperplate photogravure. A technique invented by William Henry Fox Talbot in the 1850's after he invented photography. He prioritised photogravure over photography due to its archival (permanence) characteristic - an aspect that photography did not have in common.
