Kagiso Pat Mautloa | 2016 – 2017

During the last months of 2016 and the first half of 2017, Warren Editions worked non-stop on a large-scale linocut project with Kagiso Pat Mautloa, in collaboration with Yellowwoods Art.

The project comprises woodcuts inspired by the sculptural masks that Mautloa creates from detritus that he collects on his walks between his home in Alexandra and his studio at the Bag Factory in downtown Joburg. The masks are monochromatic and three-dimensional, and in this woodcut project images were deconstructed and completely reinterpreted. The final images resemble

15 masks - 75 blocks in total.
