Anyone can can learn printmaking techniques such as etching, monotype, reductive woodcut and linocut. These are offered by Warren Editions through structured printmaking workshops, which take place on consecutive Saturdays from 9 am to 3 pm. Furthermore, no previous experience is needed (except the multi-plate etching workshop). Anyone wanting to experience printmaking and learn different printmaking techniques qualifies for participation. The techniques taught in the various printmaking workshops are the methods used at Warren Editions. Tea, coffee and snacks are provided as refreshment. Each printmaking workshop is also accompanied by thorough notes on the techniques.

MONOTYPE WORKSHOP:

An Introduction to Oil – and Water Based Monotype Techniques.

  • The monotype workshop occurs over four consecutive Saturdays, on 21 January, 28 January, 4 & 11 February 2017.

  • Every Saturday’s times are 9am – 3pm.

  • The cost for the monotype workshop is R3,200.00*.

MULTI-PLATE ETCHING WORKSHOP:

An exercise in multi-plate registration, wet-on-wet printing with two etched copperplates and colour.

The multi-plate etching workshop is for participants that have attended an etching workshop at Warren Editions. The techniques that are available for implementing are hard ground – and soft ground etching, step-bite aquatint and spit-bite aquatint.

  • The multi-plate etching workshop is for those who have attended an etching workshop at Warren Editions.  Also welcome to attend are those that have learnt etching techniques at other studios, and those that have been practising etching in their own capacity in their own studio or another’s studio. A necessity is experience in some etching techniques, but more importantly a skill in wiping a copper plate.

  • The multi-plate etching workshop occurs over three consecutive Saturdays, on 25 February, 4 March & 11 March 2017.

  • Every Saturday’s times are 9am – 3pm.

  • The cost for the multi-plate etching workshop is R2,500.00*.

HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS:

The Holiday Workshops cater for children aged 6 to 13 years. The techniques utilised for the activities are monotype and drypoint.

  • On 6 April 2017, 10am – 1pm, the monotype technique is focused on.

  • On 7 April 2017, 10am – 1pm, the drypoint technique is focused on.

  • The cost for each workshop is R350.00*.

REDUCTIVE WOODCUT WORKSHOP:

An Introduction to the Reductive Carving Method and Hand Printing Techniques.

  • The reductive woodcut workshop occurs over four consecutive Saturdays, on 6, 13, 20, 27 May 2017.

  • Every Saturday’s times are 9am – 3pm.

  • The cost for the reductive woodcut workshop is R3,200.00*.

ETCHING WORKSHOP:

An Introduction to Drypoint, Hard ground Etching, Soft Ground Etching, Soft Ground Impression, Step-Bite Aquatint, Aquatint “Mezzotint”, Lift-Ground Aquatint and Spit-Bite Aquatint.

  • The etching workshop occurs over nine consecutive Saturdays, on 3, 10, 17, 24 June & 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 July 2017.

  • Every Saturday’s times are 9am – 3pm.

  • The cost for etching workshop is R7,500.00*.

CMYK RELIEF WORKSHOP:

An Introduction to Manual CMYK Colour Separation, the Linocut Technique and Hand Printing Techniques.

  • The CMYK relief workshop occurs over four consecutive Saturdays. However, the dates are still to be confirmed.

  • Every Saturday’s times are 9am – 3pm.

  • The cost for the relief workshop is R*.

*THE PRICES INCLUDE VAT AND MATERIALS & THE PRINTMAKING WORKSHOPS CAN ONLY HOST 8 PARTICIPANTS.

The TERMS for participating in a printmaking workshop are;

Your participation in a chosen printmaking workshop is secured upon payment and Warren Editions cannot reimburse the fees.

If you cancel your participation 14 full days or more before the chosen workshop starts, the fee you paid can go towards the next scheduled workshop that you chose. To participate in the next scheduled workshop, you will need to pay the outstanding amount – if the workshop fee has increased. Also, participation in the next scheduled workshop depends on available spots. Alternatively, you can arrange to have a friend take your place or sell your spot.

If your cancellation is less than 14 full days before the chosen workshop starts and Warren Editions is unable to find a replacement, then 50% will be deducted from the original fee paid. In order to participate in the next scheduled workshop you will need to pay the outstanding amount – bearing in mind that the next workshop fee might be more than originally paid.

Warren Editions reserves the right to re-schedule the dates of a printmaking workshop that you have signed up and paid for or cancel a printmaking workshop.
