Anton Kannemeyer
Anton Kannemeyer completed a MFA at the University of Stellenbosch in 1997 and has lectured there periodically. Together with Conrad Botes, he has been at the forefront of introducing a comic and satirical aesthetic to South African art. He and Botes are the co-founders of the Bitterkomix series, which started in 1992 and has become revered for its subversive stance and dark humour. He held his first New York solo exhibition, The Haunt of Fears, at Jack Shainman Gallery in April-May 2008. The Z is for Zuma and H is vir Hansie etchings formed part of his solo exhibition held at Michael Stevenson Gallery in Cape Town during October/November 2008.
